You do not need to buy every expensive item before your first shift. Start with the equipment needed for safety and reliable work, then add items after a short trial.

What you need before you start

Phone and secure mount

Check that maps and delivery apps work, the mount cannot come loose and the phone has rain protection. Stop in a safe place before touching the phone.

Power bank and cable

Navigation uses a lot of battery. Compare safety, weight, rain protection and cable condition, not capacity alone.

Delivery bag and dividers

Choose a bag that keeps orders level, separates hot and cold items and can be secured to you or the vehicle.

Lights, reflectors and helmet

These help other road users see you at night and in rain. Check the correct standard and fit for your vehicle and body.

What to add after a short trial

Rain and waterproof gear

Choose rainwear that keeps your view clear, plus waterproof gloves, shoe covers, a bag cover and towels for your season and vehicle.

Hot- and cold-weather gear

Carry water and use breathable or warm clothing as needed. Stop working when you feel unwell or the weather is unsafe.

Spares and cleaning supplies

Add spare cables, cleaning items and extra dividers only after you know what you actually use.

Five checks before buying

  • Safe for use while working
  • Fits your bicycle, motorcycle or light van
  • Handles rain and vibration
  • Light enough for long use
  • Clear warranty, returns and replacement parts
