Restaurant order tablet offline in Japan? Keep accepted orders safe and check Wi-Fi step by step
The restaurant order tablet is offline. Record accepted orders before changing the connection.
This guide is for a restaurant’s order device in Japan. The steps depend on the provider, device and network plan. We checked Uber Eats’ official merchant device guidance on 25 October 2026; confirm whether it applies to your contract.
Record accepted orders → check the device’s online status → test the restaurant connection → contact the provider if the issue remains.
Protect orders before troubleshooting
Note each visible order’s number, items, handoff time and progress. If another worker or device takes over, agree who is handling it. Check the service dashboard for opening hours and whether new orders are paused. If you cannot verify the state, contact merchant support and ask how to handle acceptance while the connection is down.
Is it the line, the tablet or the app?
| What you see | First check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Several restaurant devices are offline | Router, internet service and another connected device | Check the network provider and order service for outages |
| Only the order tablet is offline | Selected Wi-Fi, airplane mode and device guidance | Follow the equipment provider’s instructions |
| Internet works but orders are missing | App sign-in, opening hours and pause settings | Read the no-orders checklist |
Internet line → router → order device → order app. Several failed devices point toward the line; one device points toward its connection; an online device may still have an app or acceptance setting issue.
Uber’s device guidance says its reset process uses the Wi-Fi network and password, but a device with a SIM card may not need Wi-Fi. Check which type your restaurant actually has before treating a Wi-Fi warning as a broken tablet.
Before restarting or switching devices
Arrange a way to monitor active orders and assign a staff member before restarting the router or tablet. Follow the equipment provider’s steps. A factory reset can erase stored information, so ask support first. Uber also describes a web version of order management, but says it has limited functions and may not make notification sounds or connect to a printer. On a substitute device, verify orders, alerts and printing one by one; avoid processing the same order twice.
Online indicator → new-order acceptance → accepted-order progress → alert sound → receipt printing.
Should you buy a new router or connection?
Compare coverage across the working area, number of devices, a fallback connection, monthly cost, cancellation terms and compatibility with the order equipment. A new router will not fix every order-management problem. If the tablet is loaned, ask its provider about replacement or configuration first.

What to do next
Secure accepted orders, distinguish the restaurant connection from the device and app, then follow provider advice for restarting. After recovery, test acceptance, existing orders, alerts and printing. Tell merchant support the error shown, when it started, how many devices are affected and which orders need attention.
